MSTUncut: Skydivers

MST... Uncut!

#609 Skydivers

Skydivers was a film with a lot of padding. Dull, sleep inducing moments of guys flying around in the air - so we really didn't miss anything of importance.
Our first edit occurs when Pete the geek-boy makes his first jump...

"My, that plane gets purtier every day"
Mike and the bots leave to do the second host segment and what they miss is seeing Beth drive out to pick up Pete after his jump. There are shots of the plane landing, geek-boy stowing his gear in the car, then looking longingly at the plane before getting into the bashed up auto ('Course, he's an excellent driver, yeah)
The scene shifts to a boat speeding along the lake. Mike and the bots return to the theater and we rejoin the film with a closeup on Suzy and Anthony Cardoza in that boat.

Edit #2

"Steve often took pleasure in thrusting his area to the world"
After Cardoza's fight with Frankie and before the guys take a plunge from a plane, there originally was yet another shot of guys jumping from the sky. It's long, it's boring and it's the same thing we'll see in the next sequence.

     Except for this guy....

From out of the blue, Coleman Francis gives us a shot of monkeyboy here chomping vigorously on an apple.

There's more skydiving

then more monkeyboy.

Cripes, didn't your mother teach you any manners? Close your mouth when you eat!"

Edit #3

After Mr. C gives Beth the good news that they're going to be able to open their business again, the scene quickly cuts to MORE BLOODY SKYDIVING!!! Lord the BBI saved us fans from a lot of boring pain.  Anyway, during the parachuting we see these 4 girls...

In the first scene, a girl we will soon discover is named Stephanie, shoves her way in between the others and points.
In the second, an angry girl forces her arm down and says "Stephanie that hurts" but those words don't match her mouth. What she probably said (in a French accent) was... "Don't ever upstage me again, you stupid cow!"

Edit #4

Dr Tongues house of 3-D apple spew

During the test flight, before the big re-opening party... there were a few moments sliced out of the movie (A Host Segment covers the edit)

These show more crowd shots... including another with this idiot and his apple.

It cuts to more aerial shots and then back to the crowd where this exchange occurs between Bjork and Coleman Francis....

And then Bjork says something like "Those old men" or "Dumb old men" or maybe she called him a "Twisted old fruit" I dunno.

After the jumpers are all safely on earth. Tony Cardoza is accosted by this clown, who inquires about the party.

Tony: Are you coming?
Hick: Yeah maybe, I think maybe I will!

Note: the hick guy often stumbles through his lines, repeating himself

Hick: Ah, be some pretty girls around y'think?

Cardoza: Pretty girls? with Jimmy Bryant and his group... plenty of pretty girls

Hick: Hot dog, I think, I think I will make it then

Crow: Keep your pants on clown, he didn't say they'd have anything to do with you

The voices in my head, make them stop!

After Tony Cardoza walks away there's a very important scene missing...

The, "So long, Bob, Mike" scene!

This helps to establish that both Bob, as well as whispery thin Mike, are indeed leaving.

Crow: "See ya later, I'm off to cross a bridge over troubled waters..."

Now what Coleman Francis fails to tell us is where Bob and Mike are going. Did they enjoy a hearty brunch together? Or did Bob have to beg off, claiming he had a prior commitment to have his teeth cleaned?
Mike of course would be bugged by this, as Bob always seemed to be avoiding him of late. And scenes would show that Bob had indeed lied to Mike and was enjoying a Corona with Steve.
Regardless, Coleman's omission of these pivotal shots exposes a small weakness in the great mans direction. That being the ability to tell a story with cohesion that makes basic common sense.

Edit #5

Our final missing scene comes during the hunt for Suzy and Frankie. Joe questions this kid who looks like the love child of Alfred E. Neuman and Linda Hunt

Joe: Do y'know if they were inside the hanger?
Alfred: I don't know, saw 'em running, they were too far out, it didn't make sense
Servo as Alfred: Flag on the moon?
Mike: I'm guessing a lot of things don't make sense to that kid.
Crow: Woa, looks like Joe's putting on the brass knuckles and is going to pop 'em one!

From out of the blue a dubbed in voice off screen says...

"Watch out for snakes" and Joe tears off so fast that the horrid DVD transfer can't keep up with him.

And by the way - The voice actually said - "Joe, check Hillcrest road"

So Joe jolts off to his car, gets in and guns it. One assumes he's driving to Hillcrest road.
What they want him to check out on this road once he arrives is never explained. Maybe the production was running low on its supply of coffee - The voice was simply the director politely asking Joe to check and see if the grocery store on Hillcrest had any in stock... and he simply forgot to shout, "Cut, that's a wrap people!" before hand.

With Coleman - it's possible.
