#517 Beginning of the End


You ever wonder why Audrey Ames asked the Colonel for her camera back? After all, she had it with her when she left the roadblock. The answer to this question is discovered in a scene cut from the MSTed version.
     After Audrey leaves the roadblock, she takes a sneaky detour a few feet away down a dirt road. -"Tee hee - Thank God for bad peripheral vision"-
     But what does it say for military intelligence, that they neither saw her hulking boat of an automobile, nor thought to block off this path in the first place?


This scene shows Audrey looking thoughtfully at the devastation of Ludlow -"Saay, what's Kirsten Dunst doing out there with that bag of Tostitos?"- She slowly raises her camera, when suddenly....


From out of nowhere, Warren Oats pops in and grabs her camera! Audrey's pictured doing her Miles O'Keefe imitation "NOOOO!"

It seems someone forgot about "Gentle Pressure"


Warren rips out the film while Audrey protests that he has no right to do that and demands to see his Commanding officer. He says he's sorry, tells her where to go, and walks off with camera in hand.

"Kline ladies and gentlemen, Kline. Big round of applause!" clap clap clap


Alone again, naturally.

Audrey looks on thoughtfully once more and then the scene cuts to the military headquarters where we rejoin Mike and the bots.

In the other excised scene we are shown Peter Graves, Audrey and Frank drive, and we see them pull up to the grain storage area. But what we miss, are the scenes where Frank opens the gate to let them in!!

  

In the first vid-cap, Frank is seen getting out of the boat... er, auto. What you can't tell from the picture is that the car was still rolling while he's doing this.
     Either Frank was so excited to see the demolished storage unit that he couldn't wait to get out of the car - Or Audrey, in her zeal, just doesn't give a damn who she runs over.
     In the second, Frank runs to the gate, swings it open and waves them in. Bert I felt these moments were pivotal to the story and that MST's edit destroyed the integrity of his picture. (oh, okay, fine. That's not really true...)
